About the Partnership Boards

Learning Disability Partnership Boards were set up in 2001 as a way of implementing the 'Valuing People' White Paper. Valuing People is the government's plan for improving the lives of people with learning disabilities and their families.

[A copy of 'Valuing People' is available to download from the 'Additional Information' section on the left. Alternatively, you can click here.]

A separate board exists for each Local Authority, i.e. Nottingham City & Nottinghamshire County. The Partnership Boards are responsible for overseeing the planning & commissioning of all learning disability services in their area.

The Partnership Boards meet every 2 months and take reports from the various working groups that are tackling the individual parts of the Valuing People White Paper and other local needs. The working groups help to focus on particular issues such as transitions, person centred planning, etc. These working groups are made up of people who have experience in the field and others with an interest in the subject.
