Valuing People White Paper

The Government's strategy for learning disability, the Valuing People White Paper, published in 2001, is being reviewed. The review is called the 'Refresh', or 'Valuing People Now'.

The original white paper (2001) set out the Government's vision for people with a learning disability, across a range of services based on four key principles of rights, independence, choice, and inclusion. The white paper's vision covered a range of issues including health, housing and employment.

The 'Valuing People Now' outlines priorities for the learning disability agenda over the next three years.

The 'Valuing People Now' document is now open for public consultation, so you have the chance to let the government know if you think anything in the document needs to be changed.

The consultation period has been extended until 28th March (moved from 11th March)
