The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independent regulator of health and adult social care and as such has the unique ability to influence the quality of care in England.
CQC inspectors are continually checking services in every area of the country. As well as looking closely at individual services, each year the CQC takes an in-depth look at the state of health and social care nationwide and produces a report for Parliament.
The 'State of health care and adult social care in England' report is a brief overview of the report produced for Parliament and highlights how health and social care services in England performed during 2009, and the improvements leading up to 2009.
