Care Quality Commission - learning disability strategic plan 2010 - 2015
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the independant regulator of health and adult social care and as such has the unique ability to influence the quality of care in England.
The CQC has identified five priorities which will significantly enhance the quality of outcomes for people who use services.
These are:
- ensuring care is centred on people's needs and protects their rights
- championing joined-up care so that health and social care are more coordinated
- acting swiftly to help eliminate poor quality care
- ensuring and promoting high quality care
- regulating effectively in partnership.
The following document sets out the CQC's early thoughts about their approach to ensuring not only that services for people with learning disabilities reach basic standard of quality and safety, but also improve.
