Citizens' Health Panel
Local people shaping their local NHS
NHS Nottingham City is spending £460 million this year on providing health services. £270 million of this buys treatment at local hospitals, including mental health services, £190 million provides healthcare in the community including GPs, dentists, health visitors, midwives, district nurses and much more.
It’s your local NHS – why not have your say on how your money is spent on health services in Nottingham City?
NHS Nottingham City has created the Citizens’ Health Panel so that they can gather your views through questionnaires, focus groups and conversation. They can then make the real changes to the local NHS that you want to see. And make sure they let you know about what those changes are.
What does membership involve?
You can choose how much you get involved in the Citizens’ Health Panel. You will receive around four questionnaires each year, but you may also be invited to small focus groups with a few other people to discuss specific issues. We’re always looking at new ways to help people have their say about health services and we’ll let you know all the ways you can take part.
What will you do with the information you get from the panel?
NHS Nottingham City will gather everyone’s views and use them to help us make changes and improvements to your local NHS services – that could be changes to services from your GP, dentist, optician, pharmacist, health visitor, or even changes in your local hospital. The information will also be used to help make decisions when planning new services.
What’s in it for me?
Together with others from your local community, you will be making a difference to the health services used by not only you and those close to you, but by people across the whole city. Through these changes, the panel will be able to help us make a real difference to people’s health and well-being in the city.
Joining the panel
You can join the Citizens’ Health Panel if you live in the Nottingham City area (the same boundaries as Nottingham City Council) or are registered with a Nottingham City GP. Any information or comments you give to NHS Nottingham City will remain completely private and confidential and they will not pass on any personal information or contact details to anyone else.
