Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) launched on 1 April 2009 bringing together the independent regulation of health and adult social care in England.
They will build on the work of their predecessors, the Commission for Social Care Inspection, the Healthcare Commission and the Mental Health Act Commission, but will bring a distinctive approach - common quality standards across health and social care for the first time and a new focus on how well health and social services work together. Above all, they will put the rights and interests of people who use services and their carers at the heart of their work.
They will share their wealth of knowledge and expertise on health and social care services with you. They will work to improve services across health and adult social care and we will act swiftly to remedy bad practice.
