Local Government & Public Involvement in Health Bill

The Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Bill, introduced to Parliament in December 2006, introduces a number of measures relating to local government as well as involvement of local communities.

One of the measures the bill introduces is the establishment of Local Involvement Networks (LINks), which replace Patients’ Forums, and the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health in 2008.

The bill also clarifies and strengthens the existing duty on NHS bodies to involve and consult patients and the public in the planning and provision of services.
