Local carers' draft strategy out for consideration

The draft strategy sets out what Nottingham City Council has done and what it intends to do to help those people in Nottingham who look after vulnerable relatives, friends or neighbours.

Covering 2008 to 2011 the strategy's aim is to provide the best possible kind of service to carers, to enable them to continue caring whilst also leading as active and fulfilling a life as possible outside of their caring role. The work will continue and the strategy will be improved and refined.

The strategy is written from the perspective of keeping it simple and accessible to as wide a readership as possible. Detailed technical information is contained in the appendices with the main body containing a summary and overview. It is structured into 5 separate parts:

  • What informs what we are doing - the national policy and legislative context that underpins the carers work in Nottingham.
  •

  • Understanding Local Need - knowledge of what current and future service users require.
  •

  • Gap Analysis - the difference between what is available now compared with what other services are needed to support carers.
  •

  • Planning Service / Commissioning Intentions - how these services will be procured.
  •

  • Monitoring and Review - Assessing the extent to which the plan is kept on track of the requirements.
  •
