NHS Nottingham City - 5yr strategy
NHS Nottingham City have released their 5 year strategy for 2009/10 - 2013/14 with the aim to end health inequalities in Nottingham.
There is a 10-year gap in life expectancy across Nottingham City. We believe this is unacceptable. Over the next five years NHS Nottingham City will, together with their partners, further their mission to end health inequalities. They will make major and rapid improvements to the health of the people of Nottingham which will result in saving at least 260 extra lives per year by 2014. Most will be in areas of the City with higher than acceptable death rates. In consultation with stakeholders, including the public, patients, clinicians and partners, NHS Nottingham City have reviewed and realigned their goals, outcomes and initiatives to support achievement of the vision. The four goals that will have the greatest impact on reducing health inequalities and increasing life expectancy are:
- to reduce premature cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality,
- to improve outcomes for people with long term conditions,
- to improve infant health,
- to improve the mental health and well-being of our population.
This Strategy explains how NHS Nottingham City are going to bring our mission to life. It shows how they will embrace all the developments and learning emerging from the City and further afield, whether regionally, nationally or internationally to continue to develop our organisation as an outstanding, World Class Commissioner of health.
