Older People
Nottingham Elders' Forum
About the Forum
The Nottingham Elders' Forum was established to create a mechanism to ensure that the voices of older people are heard and their views acted on when decisions are being made about current and future services. It is the voice of older people in Nottingham City seeking to speak out on local, regional and national concerns.
The Forum was launched on 3 October 2005 at the Council House. The launch was attended by approximately 130 older residents who enthusiastically supported and endorsed its development.
The Forum is a voluntary, non-political, pro-active group which presents an opportunity for anyone aged over-50 in the city to meet and discuss issues and concerns. It is estimated there are 70,000 people living in the city in this age group.
The forum aims to encourage older people to share their views, raise concerns and influence the planning and provision of local, regional and national services and facilities as well as deciding on their own agendas and priorities.
Statutory and voluntary organisations at local, regional and national levels are able to engage with the Forum when shaping new policies and services and when looking for feedback about existing services.
