Older People
North Broxtowe Older Persons' Forum
This forum was originally set up after a wide consultation exercise with older people in North Broxtowe in 2001.
The consultation highlighted a need for older people to have access to information about services relevant to them.
The forum was set up to inform older people of changes to local services, encourage them to raise issues of concern and to feedback their views on a particular subject.
North Broxtowe Older Persons' Forum has been meeting on a regular basis at Scalby Close Community Centre in Eastwood. This is a friendly forum where older people get together to discuss local issues and share information on a wide range of subjects.
To date, the forum has had presentations from representatives from Housing, Health, Community Safety, Fire safety, Neighbourhood Watch and the Selston Older Persons' Forum.
Support is provided by officers from Nottinghamshire County Council and Broxtowe Borough Council.
The North Broxtowe Older Persons' forum has been used as a consultation group in the past by Nottinghamshire Social Services and has also been instrumental in helping to organise older persons' information days in the north of the borough which have proved to be very successful.
Anybody is welcome to attend; the meetings are very informal and are open to anyone over 50 years of age living in North Broxtowe (Eastwood, Kimberley, Awsworth, Cossal, Brinsley, Watnall and Trowell).
If you would like to join the group, or for more information, contact Kath Farmer at Nottinghamshire County Council on 0115 977 3853
