Older People
Rushcliffe 50+ Forum
If you are over 50 and you live in the Borough of Rushcliffe you are eligible to join the Older People’s Forum. The Forum holds an open meeting at least four times a year. Its aims are:
- To enable the voices of older people to be heard.
- To represent the views of older people.
- To provide information on issues that affect older people.
- To give opportunities to network between older people and service providers.
- To monitor new services and developments - to give feedback to statutory organisations about existing and proposed new services.
- To ensure that voluntary organisations are fully involved in shaping services.
- To influence policy and practice at a local, regional and national level.
The Forum looks at issues including:
- Community safety and crime
- Transport
- Health issues
- Housing
- Finance and pensions
- Social care
- Accessing leisure
- Age discrimination
- Lifelong learning
The Forum also has a Health Sub-Group, which the Partnership Development Team helped to set up. This allows members of the group to meet solely to discuss health issues. The Health Sub-Group has representatives from the 50+ Forum, the Nottinghamshire County Teaching Primary Care Trust (tPCT) and the Primary Care Trust's Patient & Public Involvement Forum. The group is supported by the Partnership Development Team.
