Priority Action Plan 2008

The issues of priority in 2008 are:

  • Models Of Care for Alcohol Misuse - full implementation
  •

  • Equitable, effective treatment and Care Planning, comprising a range of evidence-based options for complete throughcare, which offers service users choice. In particular:
  •

    • Assessment and triage, including for poly alcohol/drug use.
    •

    • Detoxification.
    •

    • Signposting to other services.
    •

    • Complementary and holistic therapies.
    •

    • Meaningful day care provision (Double Impact model) for those still drinking/using.
    •

    • Psychosocial interventions addressing the underlying causes of addiction.
    •

    • Aftercare.
    •

  • Co-operation and partnership working between service providers from all sectors, to create an effective, joined up alcohol treatment system for Nottingham, which takes account of other provision in neighbouring areas.
  •

  • Full involvement in any future review of alcohol treatment provision in the City, in line with the requirements of Section 11 of the Health and Social Care Act 2001 (now S242 of the consolidated NHS Act 2006).
  •

  • Access to housing and support, including second stage accommodation and with particular attention to systems for accessing emergency accommodation.
  •

  • Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis aspects of addiction. Monitor the implementation of the Nottinghamshire Dual Diagnosis Strategy.
  •

  • Service User Charters in all services.
  •

  • City Alcohol Strategy and Treatment Plan - consultation roles.
  •

  • Raising the profile of treatment. Health promotion advice as a priority.
  •

  • Diversity. Group membership. Treatment and support to a wider community.
  •

  • Volunteering, training and work opportunities for service users, including specific training for involvement.
  •

  • Advocacy. Open to all and separate from services.
  •

  • National strategic and policy issues, eg alcohol advertising, pricing and availability. To be represented through the National Treatment Agency's new responsibilities around alcohol.
  •
