GPs
GPs are often the first point of contact for people with drug or alcohol problems. All GPs should provide general medical service and health care for people with drug or alcohol problems. A limited number of GPs also provide treatment for drug users.
Whether or not a GP provides such a service depends on the individual GP or the practice. You may find that your GP will provide a full service or they may prefer to refer you to one of the Community/Specialist services.
